Today I have learned how to take make-up off correctly and cleaning the face. This should happen before you start the make-up on your model.

Cover you model with your black cape, towel or bed roll. Make sure you model hasn't got any ALLERGIES to any of your products you are using or are wearing any contacts.

What you will need cotton pads, cotton buds, cleanser, toner and moisturiser

Step 1
Apply the cleanser first, use two cotton pads and apply the cleanser to them, starting to wipe the face using upward motions, make sure you are getting all of the face and neck keep using new cotton pads and more cleanser, do this too cotton pads come out clear.

Step 2
Using cotton buds and apply cleanser using these to get mascara off or any make-up around the eyes, make sure your being careful around the eye area.

Step 3
Apply toner to cotton pads and again rub onto the models face making sure you get all the face and neck.

Step 4
Apply moisturiser to hands only a small amount rub your hands together and then apply all over the models face

See what tone your models skin is if it is a pinky tone or yellow tone.
Also skin type your model has is it dry/normal/oily/combination.

I used Sian today as my model she has a yellow tone to her skin and has normal skin but she says it gets oily at times.

Elizabeth (1998)

Elizabeth I was the pin-up girl for woman of the Elizabethan Era. White Porcelain skin, rouge lips and cheeks, light/shaved eyebrows and red/light hair.

This make-up has been created and looked at in many different angles, with Make-up artists recreating the exact look or modernising it. Bleached eye brows have became a trend which I would think originated from the Elizabethan era as they had light eyebrows, this gave the illusion of high foreheads.

Portrait of Queen Elizabeth 1 made in approximately 1588 to commemorate the defeat of the Spanish Armada.

Considering this is such a theatrical look it was interesting to watch the transformation of the make-up from portrait to film. From being a 'bastard- princess' her make-up is natural and shows she has some colour to her skin from the sun, In 1558 this was known as the appearance of poor people who were lower class and showed that they belonged outside to work. As she become the Queen her complexion becomes paler, white skin was considered beautiful and also a symbol of wealth. The chemicals used to create the pale foundation in 1558 were a mixture of lead and vinegar which was harmful to the skin, this was used to cover up ageing and any signs of disease.

Summary watching this film gave me some inspiring ides for my Elizabethan era. The designers adapted the look and modernized it for the film by not over using the white foundation and giving the make-up a more natural sense. It is exactly how I would imagine the Elizabethan era to be like these designers have hit it to a tee! I love the Avant guard and tight curls hair styling and am looking to modernise in in my own way for my end finale look.

Enjoyed the film can't wait to research this more!

In these two videos clips you can see the transformation of the make-up and hair go from natural makeup/no make-up, hair down to hair up and wigs. The transformation to virgin queen.

Illamasqua master class

Illamasqua Master class

Today Illamasqua came into our class and gave us a talk about the make-up industry and what it is like which was really interesting, they also came and done a workshop which was so exciting as I volunteered to be their model.

The make-up was amazing I loved the different colourers and textures on the eyes. This was a high fashion look that they used for a fashion show. They used all Illamasqua products satin primer, skin base, gel sculpt, setting powder, lipstick on the eyes and lips. They also used a glue stick on the eyebrows and brushed outwards

Not wanting to take the make-up of I went out with it on but putting my sunglasses over my eyes as I didnt want to draw they much attention to myself.
Fell in love with the make-up and their products and found out they had a blog of their own which I will be keeping up to date with.
